Helping out is as easy as making a donation or volunteering a bit of your time. We welcome contributions from the community and are thankful for the great support we already receive.
You’ve got skills – we want ’em!
If you’ve got know how in the areas below or would like to contribute in another way, let us know.
We welcome volunteers completing community service hours.
Give some time, build relationships, connect with the youth of Inuvik.
MUSIC LESSONS – Sit down with a single youth or a group and teach them how to make music on the instrument you love. We have the following instruments for use: electric, acoustic & bass guitars, ukulele, drums, electric piano, microphones. We also have the equipment necessary to facilitate digital recording.
TUTORING – The statistics on high school graduation among indigenous students in the North are significantly lower than the grad rates for non-indigenous students and lower than the rates for indigenous students in the South. Research shows that having a caring adult who sits down with a student once or twice a week and shows interest in their academic success has a huge impact. Come and join us in changing the statistics. Contact us to begin tutoring a child or youth today.
MAINTENANCE TEAM – Good with a hammer and a saw? Want to make our space better. Let us know if you’d like to be a part of our on-call maintenance team to help out whenever the centre needs a little modification or fixing up.
IT SUPPORT – If you’ve got skills around the computer and internet things, come talk to us. We would love to have a volunteer IT support person on call for when something crashes and none of us have a clue how to fix it. (Don’t worry, we’re not THAT technologically illiterate, but what would take a pro 15 minutes might take us several hours/days).
BOARD MEMBERS – Would you like to help out by shaping our policies, providing oversight to the Executive Director and setting the overall direction of the centre? Contact us today to see if you’d be a good fit on our board of directors. We are specifically looking to increase indigenous representation, gender and racial diversity and parent involvement on our board.
ARTISTS, ATHLETES & EXPERTS OF ALL KINDS – Is there something you’re really good at that you think youth would enjoy? Why don’t you come over and provide some volunteer instruction in what you’re best at? We can provide all the materials and tools you need. Contact us about setting up a weekly program or doing a 2 or 3 day workshop with youth in town.
